New Adventures: How God Brought Me Here

I am so glad you’re here. Thank you for taking a moment to check out this new place God has brought me to:

After getting married in May, Travis and I moved to the South- starting our married lives together in a new state, a new town, a new apartment… a new everything. Travis’ job offered an opportunity to start our married lives together with our first step towards an unknown adventure. We trusted that God would be faithful to provide, grow, and shape us as we journeyed with Him into the unknown.

After lots of searching and an equal amount of deadends, we were left wondering what God was planning for me to do here. No doors were opening; in fact- if I’m honest- some were nudging open just to abruptly hit me in the face.

Knowing Adventures in Missions ‘just so happened to be’ in town, I had frequently been looking at open positions they had. Adventures is a Christian missions organization that has a heart for sharing the Gospel and growing Christians’ worldview towards our call to missions. It sounded just like my cup of tea.

Finally, there was a job opening that seemed just right: Short Term Missions Representative. Introducing church leaders, individuals, and families to the mission trip that might be right for them. Helping them in the process of preparing- paperwork, funding, all the questions. Briefing them on where they will be serving, how things will shake out, and how those plans might very well change (as anyone who has been on a mission trip well knows). It was a position where my love of people, communication, relationship building, short-term missions, Jesus, the Church, and ministry intersected. “That seems like a lot of things intersecting.” That’s what I thought too, my friend.

Travis and I prayed through the interview process that God would create an opportunity at Adventures if that was where He wanted me to serve Him here in Gainesville. When the offer to join the team came, so did a wave of doubt. Could I really do this job well? Does the Lord really want me in ministry? How in the world will I come up with the support?

But, I know God is faithful. He has proved it over and over. He is doing amazing things though Adventures. He is bringing His Kingdom through those who serve on our teams, our long-term ministry partners, and the staff here in GA. I trust He has led me here for His purposes and, whatever those may be, I know they will be good.

I would love your support on this journey. Through advocacy. Through financial partnership. But most of all through prayer.
